Has anyone had one? They seem like really interesting fish, but I've never spoken to someone who kept one alive. Most of the stories I've heard go something like: "I got one at Petco because it looked cool. Put it in my 10 gallon and it died. Pretty lame fish huh?"

I'm betting someone here can do better than that :D

Ive always wanted to get one but after watching them at petsmart they really dont do much, very awesome looking fish though. as for keeping one i never have but i hear the same story all the time about them dying fast and being kept in small tanks.

I had one that lived in my 45 gal for three years, They didn't do much except when it was feeding time!

Extremely boring fish, Found one at an lfs that was almost a foot long. Kept him for about three months and can't remember him being amusing even once. Would not recommend at all.

they are kind of cool in a species tank a lot more active which still isn't very much but they are neat to watch when they arent hiding. They love live black worms and don't grow too quickly

Wow, lots of non fans here!

I had a dragon goby for about 2.5 years. He started out an ugly little 6 inch string bean, and ended up a 17" ugly monster! he was actually probably one of my favorite fish. A lot of people say they're inactive during the day, only coming out at night, but mine was out all the time. He may have had an ugly face, but you couldn't help looking at them. They're mostly blind, so they kind of blunder about the tank running into things.

I fed mine small pellets, frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis shrimp, live brine shrimp, and flake food.

They may not be as active as some other fish, or notice you outside the tank, but I think they're cool fish nonetheless.

I have been thinking of getting one to. So I have spent a lot of time reading up on them myself. Here in one of the best sites I have found so far.

Be sure to click on the read-more that they have at the bottom of each page. There you will find other authors with their own twist and take on the fish.
In order for me to get one I will have to be willing to set up a large tank just for them and a few mates.I'm not sure If I am willing to do that for this fish yet or not.:screwy:
Good Luck!:D

I'm very glad that you liked my article. As the author though, I'd say it's my responsibility to correct a couple errors that are in it. In there I said they aren't aggressive. The truth is that when they reach maturity they become more predatory and territorial. I've heard of a two footer that suddenly started eating all its tankmates after a year. Also, I recommended a 75 gal or larger. You should really think about housing a fish that has the potential to be 24"+ in length. I just don't see that in a 75.
Everything else I put in there seems to be correct as far as my knowledge goes.

:headbang2Glade to meet a great writer like your self.:headbang2
Keep up the great work and thank you for the up date
