ok so i know this is kind of vague but i was at my LFS the other day and saw this awesome looking eel/worm thing. it was like a dark blue about 2ft long. looked like it had no eyes. ribbed like a worm. and from what i was told its the only freshwater live bearing eel. just wondering if anyone know what this was because i cant find any info on it? should have took a pic...

Sounds like a rubber eel which isnt actually fish.

also called a congo eel, its actually a type of amphibian
Thats two totally different species between congo eel and rubber eel, not same eel and in different genus. Rubber eel is a Caecilian and conge eel is an amphiuma which is actually legless salamander.

That is a Typhlonectes natans, aka rubber eel. It's an awesome animal, it's a caecillian, ancient type of amphibian.

Sheds it's skin as it grows (I believe that's to help remove external parasites just like in reptiles), it breahtes air from the surface, can be pretty active, but prefers to stay tangled up in tall plants.

I fed mine floating cichlid pellets, finely chopped chunks of shrimp and earthworms, and it could even take small feeders but I never tried it.
