ok so if you been keeping up with my post i have a fighting fish beta with some kind of bloat. he's gotten so big I feel sorry for him. yet he still sims around and all that.

Half of him looks like a small case of dropsy. i say small cause scales only stick out a very little. nothing like pictures i seen on the web.

the other half of his body has scales that stick to his body like normal.

he is just getting bigger and bigger.

I'm seriously thinking of just poping him with a needle. or use a razor blade to make a slit.

what chemical do they use to prep fish for operations and moves? if its cheap i'll go use a drop for him before i do it.

but has anyone popped a live boated fish? what was the out come?

Yes, very bad idea. You may only be damaging its internal organs putting it on the worse for wear. Sorry but in dropsy cases like this, the chances of recovery is often very slim.

go to odd ball's site on the fish disease forum and he has a very good post on dealing with dropsy/bloat. helped a lot with my yellow lab. Don't pop your betta!!!

well i just have a feeling it isn't dropsy. i mean if it is. how soon does the scales stick out pine cone styel?

my fish isnt' like this. i suspect its a tumor or a infection or parisites.
the reason i feel this is because when i hold the fish to a light it is clear and the light shines through its belly. there seems no organs where i'll be popping the fish.

i'm thinking i'll just do it if the fish grows for the worst. as of now it still swims and thinks its normal.

Hi, this is exactly what my betta is like and I am curious if yours recovered? If so, what helped?

Thanks!
