Ever released your fish into a pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's why we can't have snakehead in aquariums in the U.S. someone thought it would be good to release some and now all species are banned.

DO NOT DO IT.

Even if someone has, it's profoundly unlikely you'll get them to admit to it. As others have mentioned, its criminal behavior.

As said above, it is illegal. Another thing that people fail to realize is that most of the tropical fish in the hobby will die during the winter unless you live in a place like southern florida. Why illegally release something that will die in a few months anyways?

I didn't say that I have nor that I was going to. I was just surprised to see a white and orange koi swimming around. I don't see one koi hurting a big pond. A koi is just a carp right?

Yes, and one way or another all carp are invasive species in the USA who directly compete with our native Cyprinids.

And we can't forget the issue of the exotic and potentially extremely harmful diseases that aquacultured fish could introduce to the ecosystem.

in aus my local creek about 10 years ago was amazing it had beautiful natives every where and frogs all around now if your extremely lucky you will find a native fish or a frog now theres only a couple of big koi there and thousands of mosquito fish but there is alot of eels which are native
