I dont know for sure but it looked a lot like a sun fish of some kind. Fairly intense lip locking.

I am not surprised. Centrachidae are very similar to Cichlidae. Ever compared an LMB to a Cichla?

Im not so surprised about sunfish liplocking, they are more common than you thinks. It appeared that green sunfish's winning.
