Have a low tech co2 system that uses yeast, sugar, and baking soda which I let sit too long since the other one was still working, and kinda lazy. Anyways, Tonight when I opened it, this strong awful rotten yeast smell absolutely gassed me and spread throughout the entire house. If you brew beer you probably know the smell. So bad. Changed the other one and it smelled like a fine wine. Also, yesterday at my work (lfs) I pulled out a dead tiger cowry snail the size of a baseball that was long dead, stunk the whole store with rotten snail.

I'd love to hear some of your stories (I think).

When I was a kid I was really stupid and had a 10g with about 20 fish and one day I though the water was cold and set the heater to 90 boiled everything in the tank and stunk up the whole house!! Please don't flame me!!!

Had a fish jump out of the tank while away for two months. My buddy, who took very good care of my fish (except the one that jumped??), didn't notice he was gone so didn't look. As the fish began to decompose it started to smell up the 1 bedroom apartment (3-4in african cichlid), but my buddy didn't look for the root cause. Took a good washing of everything in the apartment and a few days of airing out before I was rid of that smell.

Every day when I open up the can of NLS sinking pellets.

I left a brand new full bag of silversides open on the kitchen counter, left for the weekend to see some old friends out of town. Came home two days later to rotten fish and their juices all over my counter and kitchen floor. I dont know what was worse, the smell - or the scolding I got from the wife.

My tanks are in the garage for this reason now :(
Fiance likes the fish....just not the fish tank smell. And now we have a garage.
So I have my man cave :)

Pictures of the man cave G?...
