I was at Aquarium Adventure in columbus today. And they were having there 65% off all livestock with your fish club card. well they have this gibbiceps pleco. He used to be for sale about 2 months ago. He didn't sell (i didn't have a place for him at the time) and now he's in a show tank with a bunch of blood parrots. Well I tried to buy him last weekend when fish were 40% off and I was told no. Then I tried again this weekend and AGAIN told no. I even told them that I would pay the original asking price for him which was $60-80. Still no. So I asked if he would ever come available again and I was told MAYBE. once they get another show tank back up and running and move the parrots they might let him go but they were not sure if they wanted to do that yet or not. So I gave them my number and told them to let me know if he becomes available and I would be willing to buy him.

What I didn't say though is that if They jack his price up on me b/c they know I want him some kind of bad. That my interest in him would drop VERY VERY fast.

I hope they call and let him go for $80 or less.

So you ever been told you can't have a fish from a LFS that you have seen for sale?

my lfs has a perm and can get rays ,black aros etc... i've been told many of times i cant have a fish :D.

There have been several times I've wanted to get display fish from that exact same store, but I've never asked. For example: the mangrove display filled with tiny gars...I'd love to have another little gar to grow out. I recently sent my gar I had to the hatchery I used to work at to house in their display area and I wouldn't mind getting another.

I think that on the mangrove display there is s sign that says not for sale. But that gibby was at one time for sale. either way I think you should ask when you go back in IMO there is to many fish in the display.

That is true and yeah, they are labeled as not being for sale.
BTW, I did see today that they have one of their display TANKS for sale. The big reef tank in the back corner that they replaced with the kids touch pool. It needs a good cleaning and they said it needs resealed, but I really wish I had an extra $300 and a place for a sweet display tank like that.

i hate those TANKS!!!! always the nicest rays, pbass, dats, tat's and there whole store fish selection STINKS!!! but the show tank tricks you into thinking there selection is TOP-NOTCH:grinno:

Yeah I saw that but my only worry is with a tank like that that has angled panels I think resealing would be very hard. But for 300 I think it would be worth it. If you had the time.

Yeah, I've only ever resealed your normal rectangle tanks, but I think I could figure it out pretty quick if I got a sweet tank like that for a good price
