its cool that it could perform tricks, but i rather let the fish be a fish rather then acting like a dog, ruins the whole purpose of having fish in the first place if i wanted it to perform tricks.

after all i like my fish act as natural as it would in the wild.

The problem is, they pretty much never act as they would in the wild, as anyone who snorkels or scuba dives could tell you. They just don't have the opportunity.

And being stuck in a tank much much smaller than would be their natural habitat allows for boredom. If your fish is smart enough to learn tricks like in the video, chances are he's bored just sitting in the tank too.
So I think there's nothing wrong with adding enrichment activities just like they do in zoos for other animals, or just like people do with their dogs or cats. None of those animals have the opportunity to entertain themselves or forage as they would in the wild, so they rely on human interaction for mental and physical stimulation. Nothing wrong with providing that for a fish too.

Not like the fish really aimed to make the goal, the basket or was told to go in the tubes.. basically the fish is just hungry trying to eat something..

Only looks smart when shown the best captures and put them all together.

this would be good for those in jail with nothing to do. And still it isnt really a trained fish. Just manipulated

Waste of life time and effort to me.

I'm pretty sure the majority of "trained" animals are manipulated into doing so.

I doubt your dog really knows why you're telling him to sit. He does it either to avoid punishment, or in hope of a reward; and food is just as big a motivator with them, which is why the same tactics used in the video with the fish are used for dogs to teach them agility courses.

All training is is memorization of cues and objects and associating them with a task regardless of the motivator. It's been shown that goldfish can retain memory, so there's no reason to doubt he's just following food and they happened to catch the few times he looked like he was doing something. Most of our fish come to the front of the tank and show off in hopes of receiving food, so there's no reason to think they can't remember behaviors that result in you giving them food, or note your behavior before they receive it, which is why they often recognize bottles of food.

Aquariums also teach fish like sharks to touch an object to receive food (they only want them associating the feeding sticks with food, not human body parts), or to roll over for medical care (and yes I've seen this in action, in person), and they are able to do it repeatedly once trained.
