I would like to know every thing that is to be known about channel cats, specifically their behaviour, diets, and aclimational procedures from the wild.

Why? I've got them in my backyard in central Maine. [jefferson, Lincoln County, ME]

thank you.

they grow VERY fast and are VERY active in warm water. They're peaceful but can eat anything that will fit in their mouth and try to eat everything else.
also, they'll get big and start banging themselves up if the tank isnt big enough.

:iagree: Just like Rallysman said. They are very hardy fish as well. They will eat just about anything and everything that will fit in their mouths.

thanks for the speedy response.
do you know if they can be kept in a four foot deep pool? (not sure of total depth.)
if kept in coldwater, what makes them able to be housed in a tropical tnak?

They are a temperate NA species that has adapted to northern waters like yours and southern, warmer waters. Just make sure they can't eat what you want to keep with them. Do you know what species of channel they are? Some get bigger than others. They are cool fish and grow fast. Good luck with them!

4 feet deep is good for them.

thanks....all i need now is to catch one to ID it, and or just find some CW diving gear and suit up, and start looking,...
