I got this cute little <1" green spotted puffer a couple of months ago and after quar. lpaced him in a 20L low brackish tank with two freshwater flounder, three florida flag killies, and a mixture of other live bearers (food makers).

Everything was wonderful until two weeks ago. Everyday I would fing another fish all chewed up floating. I figured that my flounder were ready for a move into a higher brackish range tank. Then the larger of the two flounder ~ 5" was sticking to the glass tank with its side shreded and bleeding. It died two days later.

It has become painfully obvious now that the bastard has killed everything in the tank other then the one flounder and a small blue live bearer with a red tail that the culprit was that baby faced assassin green spotted puffer.

What makes it even worse is that I am a huge MMA fan and my boy in the welterweight division is Josh Koscheck! I see people using the abbreviation GSP to describe the puffer which is also used to describe my most despised welterweight fighter Georges Saint Pierre, also a puffer IMO!

Now when I read GSP on this forum I want to puke!

GSP is a beast! the fighter i mean lol and the fish are too! but yeah i always thought of that everytime i hear GSP on MMA or on the website. you really cant blame it on the puffer, only yourself. there are countless articles out there on the web, half of them linked here, where it says they could be fine one day and then just snap the next and kill everything its in with regardless of how long they were with the tankmates. it sucks but you should have known this could be coming one day

I was forewarned that the bugger would become aggressive, I just thought I would see some signs of it during daytime rather then just full blown nocturnal nightmare. It IS his tank to do with as he pleases and I do accept full responsibility. The livebearers were only in there to provided food (fry) but if fins are his preference then I guess they still served their purpose. I am rehoming the remaining flounder when it's tank is fully cycled (hopefully soon enough to avoid disaster).

On a side note after GSP obliterates Dan Hardy you know my boy Kos is gonna tool that bald head Eminem look alike this time around!

i have been extremely lucky with my GSP. he has only showed aggression towards one fish in the year i have had him. hes now close to 4 1/2 or 5 inches. and the aggression he showed towards a six line wrasse i put in was gone after two days and now they both freely swim around the tank without the puffer going after him anymore. hopefully he wont take out anymore until your ready to move the other(s).

GSP is good, definitely not my favorite, but damn good and anyone who beats him has some talent too. i like koscheck as well, i dont have a fav fighter, i like to see the fights where someone wins a battle because they are that little bit better, doesnt matter who it is.

Yes, that little puffer is evil. Stock accordingly! As far as the livebearers, remember that GSP's are NOT pisceiovores(sp?) & should not eat fish/fry as a staple. It wont hurt them, but gives them almost no nutritional value. They should be fed hard-shell foods like clam, mussell, shrimp, snails, etc. I dump about a dozen ghost shrimp in with my wife's GSPs once a month or so & feed a variety of live snails & frozen crustaceans as a staple.

Most massacres happen after lights out.
