So my Juvi Micropeltes has been sharing a growout tank with a juvi Gar, and 3 Juvi Polypterus.

He is now at about 10-12cm long.

The other day I went to feed the littluns, saw the Micro had strange lips...

... turns out those wern't strange lips, but the tail of one of the juvi Endlicheri sticking out.

The one it ate, was 10cm in length!!! The micro swallowed the thing whole. I have been monitoring him for the last few days, as I was sure this would choke and kill him. It didn't the huge bulge in his stomach has gone down and all is fine.

Moral is, even at very very young age, NEVER underestimate what these guys are capable of!

Here are a few pics:

Wow I never thought that could happen.. even the micro looked smaller compared to the endli.. but one thing's for sure, micro can really chow down a lot of food as if they never stop getting full..
Well, I think it's a good lesson lol

yup, I find when they are small they are more willing to take equal sized prey, INfact the guy i get my snakehead's off of brought in 3 Blue emp's for me , finally got some all at about 12 cm, the tank he kept them in had a 12cm melasoma (same size no joke)who ate 2 in one night he didnt think that they had been eaten though it was jumper's that he couldnt find, but the next evening he walked in on it swallowing the 3rd lol,

So i again have no blue emp's, probably will be anoth year before i see them on a list around here again :S

Shame you are so far away, I have a true pair or blue Emperors (16" & 15") that I am thinking of moving on!
