I know at one time I said i didn't get this fish, but now I'm starting to get it. Whats your experience with keeping them? I'm probably going to pull my silver dollars out of the 300 and possibly the Midas. That would leave a male JD, female Freddy, female Festae and female convict along with some loricariids.

seems like a waste to keep just one since the are so hard to come by, so Im wondering if a pair could live in my 300. Rapps has some 4.5" fish on his list. Also, what size can you sex them if Im trying to get a pair. Kind of an expensive fish to grow out........I know most recommend to keep them alone for best results, but so far I have a pretty mellow tank and the fish are still fairly young, ranging from 5"-8" or so.

Tank has lots of cover and individual zones......

more curious than anything. fascinating fish either way.

Thanks in advance!

From my experience they get stressed easy, which in turn causes other issues. But I always had small ones, and they may be a bit easier to stress. As for sexing, Rapps should be able to vent and pick out a male and female for you.

GL :)

The hype is why I didn't buy in at first, but after spending time checking out pics and video, I'm curious. Really curious to see some experience with tank mates more than anything. I do have a 90 I could use as a grow out for awhile.......hmmmm

I was just thinking about the ornatus as well. Ive read somewhere that they are related to festae?? anyone know if this is true? looks like a pretty cool fish and would love to see what the breeding dress looks like
