Ex-Cichlasoma Pearsei Breeding, Eggs Again!

Looked in my tank today and realized my male and female pearsei were guarding this rock in the middle of the tank. after further investigation i realized there were eggs on it!... so i took some video of it. In the vid you can see the Female guarding the eggs with her darker colors for breeding. This is the first time they have laid eggs since I removed the trouble maker "male vieja gullutatus". so they might have more of a shot now. ... fingers crossed!

THis is the 4th time i have had eggs with this pair. It seems like each time they are getting better at the process. but in the end it appears that the male can't successfully fertilize the eggs and they get eaten. .......... I would like to think they are getting closer with each attempt. Hopefully they complete the process in the near future.

I will keep you all updated on the progress. :)

Good luck! I have a pair also and eveytime they produce eggs they get eaten. I have had mine for years and just recently have come to the conclusion that I'm just not going to be able to get them to finish. Its very frustrating because out of all my cichlids my Pearsi's are the ones I want to breed.
