Exactly HOW do you drip acclimate a fish?

A video would be a little boring I think. Anyway, back when I did SW and use to drip my fish I would place the fish in a bucket with the water it came in. I ran a piece of air line tubing to the bucket and would let it drip at a rate of 1-2 drops per second. When the level of the water doubled I would remove half of the water and do it again. When the water doubled again, I would add the fish to the tank. This process generally took a couple of hours.

did the fish start gasping due to lack of oxygen?
