Hello ,
I jsut tried venting my pearsei. It was sorta hard to hold the flashlight and get the magnifying glass lined up so there was no glare , all while holding the fish in the net. However I did get a decent enough look to say...... huh?
I can describe that the larger fish has a larger vent ...that has a V shape to it . The smaller fish has a slightly smaller vent that appears to be U shaped. Sounds like going by shape the large fish should be male and the smaller one female. By size sounds like the larger fish is female and the smaller one male . Viewing them from the sides while they are swimming around in the tank, I can see small bits of their junk. I Do think that each of them appear to be about the same size using that method. I can't tell if one is more pointed and the other more blunt though. Nor can i tell if one points more downward and the other more backward. So based on that it might be the larger on is male the smaller one is female . Non of the indicators I've tried thus far have given me 100%. Maybe they are still too small, the larger fish is not even 4" yet and the smaller one is just pushing 3"
Does anyone out there have pictures of their pearsei s vents? OR know what would eb the most accurate way to judge......I'm betting most replies will be they're too small yet . Worth a shot to find out though.....might have a chance at one more fish to increase my odds but if i can judge these two to be one of each gender i'll just cross my fingers and hope they like each other
Thank you for any replies!
