I should be picking up some 4" Atros this week and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with them or advise?

I had a pair about a year ago that got along with one another rather well. I ended up losing the male to some sort of intestinal blockage (at least that is all I can figure out). My female now lives in a community setting and is on the aggressive side, but not a killer.

I recently picked up 6 2" juveniles that I am growing out in a 40 breeder for now. They do a lot of chasing with one another, but have not done any real damage.

This is just my experience. I've heard from others that experiences range from rather mellow to psycho killers. I'm going to go with lower temperatures and lots of water movement to try and curb aggression. I've got high hopes, as a friend of mine recently had success getting his pair to spawn.

Good luck with them.

Kind of like there cousin Festae but a little more aggro. I've had a couple of pairs, cool fish but not as attractive as Festae or Ornatum. Mine also got HITH rather easily so keep up on water changes.

Save your money and use it for fish food better. Or RTM

Lol... Why do you say that, what are your thoughts/experience when it comes to Atromaculatums?

Apparently there's only one Atro left which I've reserved.... Gonna pic it up tomorrow. They recon it's 12cm long.

Well heres the first pics of my Atro.... lovely fish. Already the boss of this tank.

Any ideas of which sex it is at this stage... Looks about 4.5" in the body.

I got 6 last January. Grew 3 to around 4" and sold them in September. I lost the other 3 to bloat. They seemed to be more sensitive to water conditions, and more susceptible to diseases.
