woke up early everything was usual, woke up a few hours later to find my convict pair finally hatched their eggs unlike the last 4 or 5 spawns where a tankmate goto the eggs at night, probably a large pleco. i know not real exciting but then i checked some new pickups showing some good signs. found my new pair of managuense that i got from thatfishguy7 started laying eggs. only got them on friday night. so i was pretty excited.

any advice for the jags? how long does it take for the eggs to hatch?

pics to follow

probably sell some jags if i find any interest in my area. feed whatever is left cause there is well over 500 probably 700 or 800 eggs, unbelievable.

Spawning Jags are like most other Cichlids... just a little more aggressive :P

3~4 days w/ eggs... 3~4 days w/ wigglers... fry grows fairly quickly...

Congratts!!!!

thanks, yea i found it which puts the hatching new years eve or new years day.

After lots of experience with breeding managuense. My advice to you is do nothing. They will hatch within 4+ days and be free swimming in another 2 or so.
After that the parents take care of them. After 2 weeks my fry start eating brine shrimp and crushed Excel. I also feed egg yolk when they are real young ( couple days old) as well as Hikari first bites. Don't worry breeding cichlids is a breeze. It was frustrating when I started because I was just learning and took every precaution too serious which ended in failing but I laid back and let the parents do all the work and presto now I am selling F1 Managuense by the boat load lol.

GL with both pairs. Oh and make sure you get the fry out of the parents tank after the population starts decreasing. The parents are going to start killing their young to make room for new babies. I have had experiences that my fry were only 2 week old and already had new free swimming fry and they were being eaten by the 2 week old fry. My mannies breed every 11 days right on the dot.

Oh and lucky you getting your pair from Fishguy7

thanks for the advice helps a bunch. and yes i was def lucky to get the pair. the male is beautiful and is an f1 from rapps. cant get any better!
