Down under
89 days pregnant now and still have not eaten for 5 days. She house in a 280 gal tank with another female that eats a little. Should I move them all to my smaller 220 gal with 3 other rays.

Problem that I was told is not to do water changes on a stroming day as there where more chemicals in the water source and now that might have been the cause the whole time. I've done water changes every second day and added salt, didn't seem to fix the problem.all water parameters are top notch, 0 amm, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate.

This leaves no decision left but to move them over with the other rays ??

I'm really worried for the pups

transfering tanks creates even more problems especially a prego ray. if there was something wrong with the tap then the other tank would be affected too. plus if you move rays between one problem tank to a clean tank you risk moving the problem as well. focus on what you know and go from there.

how long has the tank been set up? does it have enough filtration? is there something in the filter like food and other stuff? what else is in the tank? give us all the info that you can anything that you can think of and we will go from there. the zeros across the board show something is up in the first place.

are both rays acting weird or just the momma?

Tank has been set up for 3 years nows, so I don't think it's the tank? I do all water changes everyweek without fail. I had arowanas, flagtails and everything had always been fine. Until when my pregnant ray is about to give birth.

There is no problem with the other ray, eating and swimming fine. I've checked all the filter media and clean them out with the same tank water. What could be the problem?

I can't get prazi , because I don't live in US. And can't get them herE. I've only been using salt to and water changes.

Im worried that your nitrates are reading 0 i would do another water test with a different kit and check all your water parameters PH,NO2,NO3,NO4,GH and KH. Have you noticed if the pups are still moving, i ask this because my friend had a similar thing with his prego ray not eating for 7 days and she gave birth to still born pups. I hope your ray pulls through and gives birth to her pups soon.

What happened to your friends situation ?

My tank has always been stable, so I can't not factor the fact the water can be poor. If I do move and she gets stress and releases the pups . Its almost 90 days , so they should be developed and come out ok you reckon ?

i wouldnt intentionally stress out the ray for that reason. if your water is perfect and she is not eating then she is stressed out enough. i would actually try to keep stress down as much as you can. can you still see the movement? and if its only her that is acting up then it is a chance of complications from pregnancy so added stress will just make things worse.

maybe someone that has had this happen to them might chime in soon hopefully.

My friend added 2 baskets of coral gravel to his sump over 4 days and the KH came up and the nitrites dissapeared and his nitrates remained @ less than 25 ppm and guess what? his female started to feed and became more active but he did this after his ray lost her pups. I also agree with Jeffers, dont stress her out by messing with your water atm i would leave well alone. Keep checking for movement of pups and trying to feed her, hopefully all will turn out fine.

If things seem dire, remove the other rays from the tank she is in until she delivers. Keep any disturbance to an absolute minimum. Try this for 3-5 days.

Just a suggestion. Hoping for an excellent outcome.
