I'm picking up a good sized exo-terra today, and I plan on keeping crested geckos in it.

My question is, how many can I keep in a 36" x 18"x 24"? One male, and four females?

Also, i will be picking up fogger with the viv, is it dangerous to keep an area of water several inches deep? I thoght of using a mesh net over the water partically hidden with moss :)

Thanks in advance.

You could do that many geckos but you might want to go with a 1.3 ratio just so they're less crowed. Some females can be territorial and will go after each other. And they will breed so be prepared to have a LOT of eggs.

As for water I don't provide mine a water dish but I do mist the cage twice a day.

I got a tank almost that size with 1.2 and there doing great , id go for a hand sprayer than a fogger though.

I was thinking of keeping the water feature just for aesthetics, but also because in my experience with my first crested, he HATED when I misted his tank.

I would try to be delicate, but seemed like the sound pissed him off or when water would drip on his head, he would hiss, otherwise he was very handleable and never bit or acted cranky.

weird ,mine dont even pay attention when sprayed . but sounds like a good cage idea.

cant wait to see picks when its done

@ Ozz and Vicious, thanks for the info! I decided not to go with a pond/fogger because it will be complicated and add maintenance to the tank, so I will use those on a different setup.

@RiskEE, dude thanks very much for the hook up on the viv! I can't wait to finish it and post some pics. I think the geckos are gonna love it.

no prob man im looking forward to the pics

I'd love to see pics once you get it set up. I got an Exo-Terra 36x18x18 for my super giant leopard gecko and I think they are great habitats. Mine's a little boring with a desert biotope so I'm looking forward to seeing plants, more decor, etc. in yours. :)
