Just got a group of Exodons (aka mini-monsters!) for a 135 planted tank. Really cool fish, I have not had any for years, when they were "dither fish" for African cichlids. These are all alone for now, but the tank will probably need some sort of algae eating fish. Are the armored plecos and ansistrus ok with them (took out the Siamese Algae Eater)? I have heard loaches will work in a planted tank as well. These fish are bullets with fins, throw in some food and stand back or you will get wet!

I've had 8 exos with a normal pleco for a while. The didnt seem to bother each other. I'm looking for exos again though, i miss the action. No experience on the loach though, but i think it would be fine depending on size.

The more aggressive loaches (ie. tiger loaches B. helodes) work fine with exodons, the only problem is that they tend to destroy vegetation with their digging around. Skunk botias (B. morleti) work fine with smaller exodons, but eventually exodons outgrow them and predate.

i had 8 exos in a 30 with 3 yo-yo loaches. i never saw the exos bother the loaches but the loaches usual happy activity came to a screeching halt. ended up getting rid of the exos as they allowed nothing else to go in that tank unmolested.

usually exodons will only attempt to kill things that are silver or they think is small enough for them to work together to kill. :)
just make sure the loaches or plecos are large enough.

I had no issue with any fish including loaches apart from FW cuda's. Silver mid water fish. They had to go in with them in an emergency, the following day they were both dead with no scales.

They were entertaining fish to keep.

exodons are scale eaters. so anything with scales will be harassed. pretty much any pleco will do fine with the exodons. i have 12 exodons with 3 blue phantom pleco, 1 mango pleco, ghost shrimp, and a dragon catfish and no one is ever killed or picked on by the exodons.

i dont think ive ever heard of exodons killing any fish, i had comet feeders in the tank so the exodons can pick scales off the feeders and they never killed the feeders, they just harassed the heck out of them.

You got any pics of these exodons?
