Hello,

I just added fish to a new 60 gallon tank on 3/7.

14 exodon (1.5 - 2.5 inches)
1 exodon (4 inches)
2 ornate bichir (3 inches)

Everyone is swimming around and seems healthy but the big guy has no interest in food whatsoever. It’s like he doesn’t even see it as food. All he cares about is swimming around and chasing the little guys. Nothing I do works. I’ve tried hikari sinking and floating carnivore pellets, blood worms, omega shrimp, tetra flakes. Everyone is eating like crazy except him. He seems very active and healthy otherwise. Any advice? Please help thanks.

Welcome aboard
Is the big exodon the newest addition?

None of this sounds like a good idea to me.
But have you tried something meaty? Like tilapia or shrimp?
I tried frozen omega shrimp cubes a few days ago and nothing from that. I have not tried tilapia, I will try that.

So today he actually ate for the first time! (That I know of) He took a bite of blood worms that I dropped in there. I’m hoping that is a good sign.

I forgot to mention that I also tried 4 feeder minnows as well. 1 is still in there, 1 died and was removed, and 2 completed disappeared without a trace overnight.

Also, could you help me better understand what isn’t a good idea please?

Your mix of fish. Exodons are scale eaters in the wild and fin nippers. They really shouldn't be housed with anything that you are not willing to lose. Ornates are large predatory polys that can and most likely will eat your exodons at some point. That's if the exodons don't kill them first. In my opinion it's a lose lose situation.

Not to mention ornates are going to need at least 3x that gallonage...
