How many can I keep in a 20g. Also, what is best way to transport them for 5 hours?

Id say you should start with 6-8 and they will most likely kill off a few. I would take a 5 gallon bucket and put about 2 gallons in it. As long as your car is warm, you should be fine. Just a few weeks ago i bought 6tiger barbs to add to my community tank and i accidently floated them for 5 hours and they were just fine.

you should plan to have a minimum of 10 in any tank.
