I've had 5 goldfish[feeders] to cycle the tank for a month. They roam quite well in my 35g tank.

Recently i went out and bought 5 Exodons. FAST CREATURES. Loving them at first. After a days worth of getting used to.. They no longer swim in a pack. All of them are scattered all over the tank, and the dominant exo chases everyone.

As for the goldFish, 3 of them hover at the top near the filter; hidden from the tetras. While the other 2 swim lifelessly [guessing tired] at the bottom.

The exo's constantly chase eachother. Zero chemistry. They didn't turn out how I imagined; swimming in a pack [although they did at first]

Is this normal?

Was your tank fully cycled? Usually takes longer than a month. Sounds like your waters off(goldfish comment). Even if your tank was fully cycled it was for 5 fish & you just doubled the bio-load which will cause a ammonia spike. Idk bout exos packing up I've never owned em. But a 35gal is a small tank, even from one side of tank to other they may think they're still together as a group. & 5 isn't very many you probably need more for them to pack tight. Its same way with rbp. The more you have the tighter they group. I'd keep eye on your water for the next month or so.

Voila. I turned on the black light, and they quickly gather together. But this is only at night + light has to be on. Otherwise they're scattered.

From the research iv done, people keep 5-7 in a small tank. And they workout.

So the extention on my filter fell off this morning. I came back from work and noticed 3 fishes missing.

Looked around, realized OH S**T! Opened the filter, found a handycapped tetra and free'd it. The other 2 dead. The survivor swims around crocked.

Problem solved eh>?
