Wondering if anyone has kept a shoal of exodon with stingrays. I have a 6ft x 2ft x 30 inch tall tank with an
18 inch disc female Motoro
10 inch disc male Motoro hybrid
4 pups born Sep 1st this year.
I have never kept Exodons and any info would be great. The tank has gravel and no other decor. Feeding massivore pellets in the morning and tilapia at night. I am concerned that the female might eat them if they ever get lazy near the bottom. Any questions are welcome. Thanks

I wouldn’t try it.
Exos generally only go for scaled fish, but I wouldn’t want to risk them turning on the rays. And they are definitely small enough to be an expensive lunch.

Agreed. Bucktooth tetras could bite pieces out of the rays' soft bodies, and they could also be eaten themselves, resulting in losses for both.

That all makes sense. Definitely don't want to come home to a mangled pup. Arowana is the only successful tankmate I have had with them so far. Even a group of gouramis had to go after catching them pestering the rays with their feelers until they would toss their cookies.
Thanks a bunch

A group of livebearers could add some activity. They are a lot cheaper than exos. They breed really fast so the likelihood of all getting eaten is small, and stay up high and out of the way. You would just need some floating plants for cover.

You could also try something like neons, green neons, cardinals, or rummynoses if it's tetras you want. They're probably too small to be of any interest to the rays and they look great.

Good luck with whatever stingray tankmates you choose. I would not recommend the giant danios as tankmates for adult rays though, as they are large enough to potentially be of interest to the rays as they grow (even if they weren't before).

How big is that crayfish?!
Is that a regular cobalt or another type?
