Well I hope this is the right forum. I am looking for some fish to stock my daughters 55 gal with and I came across the Bucktooth Tetra. I know these are aggressive schooling fish. How many do you think I can put in a 55 gal for life? Are there any special requirements for these fish? I have done some searches here, but there is not too much info. And my last question was, I am also looking for a bottom dwelling fish, would a madtom or something similar be OK with these guys? Any help would be appreciated.

you can easy fit 10 in there.

for a bottom dweller a pleco would work and you could do 10-15 in there (they are always active so you cant cram them in)


they cost about 5-10$ ea so expect to pay over 100$

Yep go for 10 or so, i can get them for £10 or 5 for £45. Not cheap fish when you need a group. But a better alternative to piranha.

Damm, its an expensive LFS but nowwhere else has them in, its a shame as my dad likes them a lot.

it so fun to watch them eat..if you can get a silver side from your place. Ex love them. their go crazy with them.

So are they pretty hardy fish? I see them at the LFS and they average about $10 a piece. I dont mind the price, I just want to make sure that there not a "special needs" fish.

Make sher they have water . I would go 20 in a 55 , just me tho
