I was looking through the laws, and saw armadillos are illegal ''for their own safety''
Since they arn't banned due to being dangerous or trashing the environment, would there be a way to get a permit to have one?
This is in CA... :D

I really do not know....but since it says they are "illegal" for what ever reason, I would assume they are illegal??

For their own safety??? They are easy to catch and are everywhere...Why would you want one anyway? (they stink and are infamous for carrying leprosy.) Also, they are hard to feed (might be that "their own safety' thing). They eat grubs and other subterrainian insects.

eh, I could see like maybe setting up an exhibit outback with some... but I don't think I'd want one curling up around my feet while I read.

 They certainly aren't the most cuddly of creatures. And the only thing that smells worse than an armadillo is the inside of an armadillo :nilly: A friend use to eat them...I tried once but couldn't get past the smell when cleaning it. I threw it away before I finished.

I had a pet skunk named Brutis. It was just like a big ol pudy tat. Except it wasn't black and white but rather what they refer to as a Cinnimon (red eyes and tan and white rather than black and white) Litter box trained.

Was actually stolen while I was at Spring Break in Daytona.

No permits necesary...but then again it's Iowa.

Sums it up right there.

Noctural, most of the day they sleep in a ball hidden in substrate. Smell bad and messy eaters.

the leprosy thing i looked up, and everything says the only way to get it from an armadillo is to eat undercooked armadillo meat..

Do you think theres a way of getting a license, or permitting?

It depends on your local laws. You will have to do that research on your own. Since you found out that there are restrictions, it should be easy to find out what is required. Check with your local humane society, or Fish & Game. Often you will have to have an Educational Permit to keep a wild animal.
