What is a good exotic for a standard ten gallon for its whole life that is able to be handled or active or is interesting.

What would you say is exotic? I'm gonna house 3 multis and maybe some other small lake Tanganyikan fish. I think they're pretty exotic. You could also try and squeeze in some exodons. Probably not, we'll see what other people say.
You could keep ten exos in there..

I'm about to set up a 10 gallon for a few dwarf puffers. I think they're great little fish, only around 1" long. They're exotic to me and have personality. Read up a little on them, they can be a little aggressive to each other and other fish.

Like I said, leopard gecko grow out, African clawed frogs, alligator lizard, I'm sure others will come a long with more suggestions.

pacman frog, 2 African clawed frogs, 2 leopard geckos (permanent residence), fire belly newt, corn snakes, milk snakes, fat- tailed geckos, Red eyed tree frog.
