I currently run a pair of Gen-X 40's on my 350g Cichla tank, but have heard awesome reviews about Reeflo pumps being much more quiet. That being said im about to throw down on one (or two). My question really is which one to buy? These Gen-x are rated at 1190gph each and are not very quiet at all. Im thinking I could run a single Reeflo and split it to the two returns. I could get 2 reeflos but I think I would rather run 1 just to keep it as quiet as possible. My thinking is that I could go with the 2500gph Reeflo split, and have about the same turnover rate that I have now. Or, if im going to split the return should I go with the next step up? The next step is like 3600gph which would increase my turnover rate but I also dont want to return so much water that my standpipes could not keep up. Any comments, suggestions, or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Reeflos are the best! Period.. heat stays down, quite, low wattage, amazing flow.. I have nothing else to say.

How big are your return lines? You really want to size the pump to your system. But yes, Reeflos are one of the best.

My return lines are the 3/4" id, drains are 1". This is a Tenecor turnkey package I got new about a year ago.

Long time no see bro! Yeah I hear nothing but good about these things. Im still on the hunt for which one(s) I should get.

I'm not sure how many drains you have, but you can multiple the number times 600gph and figure what your maximum flow is going to be. Now, if this system is a closed loop, you might get a bit more flow out of it, but gravity will be a limiting factor. You are probably losing a lot of water flow from head height.

I would be looking at something to the tune of the Reeflo Dart. Of course, I could recommend increasing the diameter of those drain lines as well. Then, you can run any pump you wish.:D

Looking at the flow chart on the Dart it looks to be just about perfect. Im probably around 9 to 10 feet of head, and the Dart flows approx. 1200gph at 10ft. Given that I have two 1" drains at 600gph...damn near spot on. Thanks Pharaoh.

Just don't forget about the chance that one could plug. If your not worried about that, then go for it!

Kicking around the idea of increasing diameter of the drains, maybe up to 1.5 if a 1.5" bulkhead will fit in the current hole without having to redrill. Im not to excited about drilling this tank, a fail would be epic.
