I have an important question, I have a 16 inch redtail catfish and I'm considering putting 2 PB in with him since he is the only one in the tank besides a Pleco. I've tried putting koi in the tank with him (3) and he went crazy, he was very restless and splashing water everywhere. The koi wouldn't leave him alone. I took them out and he was fine right away, my question is, I've heard PB can be very aggressive and territorial, I believe these two PB im looking at are 6-8". Maybe a little more. The question is will they bother him? Will they try to fight? What is the correct temps, diet, and all around proper care for PB? How is their temperament as I've read it can be fairly bad? Thank you!!

A 16inch rtc could eat a 6 to 8 inch pbass easy, rtc's grow very fast I know I used to have one it grew to a 26inches in about 14 months or so. My rtc cleaned house he ate everything in the tank I had to get rid of him didnt have the properly sized tank for that monster.

I have an RTC with Pbass right now and they get along great, but the RTC started out much smaller than the Pbass. But with the sizes you mentioned that's just asking for the Pbass to end up as a snack. I wouldn't do it.

I agree he could eat them, but PB are quick, he (the rtc) is very sluggish most of the time. He just calmly swims around. I put 2 goldfish in with him just to see his reaction because I've been feeding him frozen market foods, I didn't feed him the day before I put them in, and they were alive and swimming in the tank for 2 days, I didn't feed him in those 3 days because once I woke up to feed him they were gone.

Depends on the peacock bass, every fish is different, who knows who will set them off? I've kept both together with perfect success, though have had issues with bass and other smaller catfish.

Very true. Thank you for your input. I'm gonna check them out, I'm being "told they were with a 10" rtc" and they were "fine" lol so well see. If not then I'm going to go catch a few largemouth bass in a local lake that will be less likely to be aggressive and what not. Thank you!
