Hello all, Ive been away from the forums for awhile and am looking to growout some new fish. I have always been intrigued by tigerfish, especially vittatus and have recently been thinking of getting a small group to grow out. Keeping monster fish is nothing new to me, but am a little worried this species may let me down. From what I have read they seem to be somewhat skittish, is the true? This is something new to me as I have always kept bruisers that are far from skittish, i.e. my 18" male umbriferum.
My plan is to get a small group and grow them out in a 125gal, filtration 2 AC500s, fx5, and a pump for added current. At a small size, say 5" or so do tankmates seem to ease their skittish nature? From what I have gathered they dont seem to be overly aggressive. If so I figured I could keep some geos and some hardier dithers with them to mellow them some, i.e tinfoils, silver dollars, balas.
Anyone care to share their experiences with this species. Ive narrowed my decision between either vatf or armatus and I dont think I can go wrong with either.
