well i tried to house a 5inch alligator gar in a 175 gallon tank with my 5 inch black Rhom piranha, and it turned out to work for about 3 weeks. i fed them two to three times a day, and then just now i went downstairs to see, my gar with half a body. the dumb thing is, is that i was about to take him out and put him in his own 100 gallon till he was too big. so basically, am i a chump or what?? ha

never a good idea to keep p's with other fishes. especially a rhom. i wouldnt even think about it.
I think this is one of those eye for an eye situations. Someone should eat some of you after that experiment. I'm pro on the keeping other species with piranha but that kinda stops at the $5 price tag... and with a Rhom... lol.
The unfortunate thing is, no matter how many threads and experiences there are like this, people will keep trying to house P's with other fish. People just don't learn, even with all the info out there that would prevent this from happening.

completely agree. the 'experiment' was ridiculous at best. there is no way it could have worked. i would suggest some research before trying any combination. whatever the case, i do hope you've learnt a valuable lesson from this, and do keep us updated on that rhom.
