I've tried google on all these first but cannot find straight answers on any. I'm looking for the max size the fish can get in an appropriate sized aquarium as well as how fast they grow.

Tinfoil Barb: Mainly looking for how fast it grows

Black ghost knife fish: Both

Pictus Catfish: This one really confuses me, some sites say max size 4", alot of others say 6", and furthermore then only place I can get it (petsmart, which I'm not a fan of but my only LFS closed earlier this year) lists it a 10" max size. Not that I would be suprised at their inaccuracy, but usually they underestimate fish size (like saying pacu max is 24. bala 14...) not overestimate fish size. Also how fast will it reach max size?

guy on here has a BGK 13" heard and seen one that was about 21"+. as far as growth i have had two of them and havent see tons of growth in the time. only been a few months so cant say for sure.

Had a pictus for a few months two grew really fast to abotu 6 inches then kinda slowed down then my endli ate it. :( Heard they can get to 10-12".

Hope this helps a little

My pictus grew moderately, in a year he went from 3" to a solid 8" before I sold him.

The growth of any fish depends on it's environment. Two fish of the same strain can grow differently depending on the care and maintaining of the owner.........

Tinfoil barbs(Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) grow to a max of 14" and can live up to 10 years with proper care. so if you do the math it should give you a ball park figure.(this is the norm but not every individual fish)

Black ghost knife(Apteronotus albifrons) get up to 25" and can live for 10-15 years or more.(this is the norm but not all individual fish)

Pictus catfish(Pimelotus pictus) get to around 6-8" and can live to around 10 years with proper care.(this is the norm but not all individual fish)

I have seen tinfoils at the Toledo Zoo every bit of 18 inches but the tank they were in was huge and they looked very old. I had them and they seem to grow to 6 inches the first year and 2-3 inches each additional year to about 14 inches.
