These are my two orinos. They are obviously different looking. The first one the 3 bars do not connect and the second one the 3 bars are connected with spangling like what I have seen most MFK members own lately. Can anyone please identify which one is rio meta or rio negro type? Thanks

not an expert but if i may share an opinion.. both are rio meta orinos, only they have their own physical characteristics on individual fishes and so you get two (or more) different patterns on them, that's great! really nice and chunky orinos my friend! :)

Fish 1: Cichla orinocensis
Fish 2: Cichla orinocensis
that's your ID. As far as specifics, you would have to ask the person you got them from as it's impossible to distinguish between locales.

I don't think the first one is a rio negro..?

It's hard to tell, I can't see the head shape really good in the first pic. Just going by the pattern of the ocel. I could be wrong...

Just different Ocelletes guys color body shape appears almost Identical buy the way nice fish ...

How many gallons? Full tank shot pls.
And as far as your question.. Uhhhhmmmm.. Not an expert so I wouldn't know. =-)

the first one appears to be a rio negro or maybe oronico and the second a rio meta but thats just geussing by the ocellets but i agree with hulon nice fish

Here are some more tank shots for you guys. I have been a long time member of MFK like 3 years now and I have never posted my entire tank shots, I dont want to seem like i am bragging. my tanks is 6 feet by 5 feet by 30 inches tall, 560 gallons i think, with a 150 gallon sump and one FX5 Fluval.
