Hey yall, so the freezer was recently cleaned out and I found a 56.4 Oz tub of new life spectrum small fish pellets. It's been in the freezer ever since I got it a few years ago and it expired December 2017. Do yall think it's still safe for the fish or should I chuck it? The freezer was a deep freeze and not like a normal kitchen freezer. I can post pics of the tub if ya want.

Open the container and smell the food, it should still be good as long as it has the same fresh food smell and no ice crystals.

I smelled it and it smells good :)

Sounds like I have a good long time to use it. I reckon I thought 56 ounces wouldn't be so big and I'd go through it within a year. A couple years later (I think) and here we are.

If it's cold enough then the food basically last 43ver, I've used shrimp 2 years after expiration, and probably could again

The only reason I ask is because I care what my fish eat. I don't want them to end up like me eating some of the most disgusting and unhealthy (but so tasty) food you can think of

It's fine for them to eat the old pellets, but I agree on feeding them a healthy diet (one of the most important thing for fish).

I feed my silver dollars fresh lettuce and mystery snails zuchini :)

Good, what kind of lettuce? Romaine is better than iceberg.
You can also feed spinach, collard, cooked rice, cooked unseasoned spaghetti and bits of yellow squash to fish like yellow dollars
