Hi,

What happens when a med expires? I noticed one of my packs of Maracyn expires 6/09 and I dont know if I'll be able to use it up by then. Do the meds just lose potency or does something else happen? Is it dangerous to use an expired med?

Thanks

Depends on the meds. Either becomes more potent or becomes useless. I have not tested expired meds. I just dispose them straight to the bin once expired. Not worth the risk.

agree with Lupin, just replace expired meds, it would be a shame to lose a fish due to a med that is expired and is no longer effective

Fish meds like people meds become less effective when expired.
It won't hurt ur fish just won't do what its suppose to effectively.
The med won't become toxic....

Remember to flush all expired meds down the toilet.
Don't chuck them in the trash. ;)

Yeah, thats what I thought since human meds and vitamins lose potency, or they cease to even have any stregnth in them at all. I guess it just depends on the active ingredients. I dont know much about these ingredients in fish meds though.
