I hear it all the time. all I get out of it is there are 2 kinds of filtration. I sorta get the fact that you have to have both. So here's my setup:

I have a new 75. never been used. I am going to use some sort of canister (don't know yet which one), and an emperor 400 HOB. How do I need to set them up to accomplish both bio, and mech?

If It sounds like I'm totally lost I am tell it to me like I'm a little kid. Talk slowly.

Ok it's getting a little clearer. Explain this to me though. In Bio filtration it said it uses bacteria, and other microorganisms. Is that where the balls, and rings come into play? Do the bacteria, and stuff live in it???

mech filtration is to revomve debreis and bio filtrion to convert nitrates and ammina into oxygen. you should have mech filtration first then bio filtraion. with a an empro 400 it has two bio wheels, thoses provide great bio filtration and the pads you buy are for mech. you have both bio and mech filtrion on your tank.
