Exposed Gills?

So I was wondering what speices have Exposed Gills like an Axolotl? Is it common with babies? I have only seen this in pictures, just curious. Thanks--

I believe they all have them when young, but they go away as it grows.

yeah all bichirs have em while they are small.

My delhezi had his external gills for a long time, hes finally lost them and they are no more. Never owned another bicher small enough to have them still but like people say bichirs all have them when they are small.

As said they only have them when small sometimes you'll get one that keeps them until 8" but alas they disappear
