External canister filter media setup

Hi all.

I just started a freshwater aquarium and would like to ask regarding the canister filter setup. I am making a diy canister with 4inch pvc pipe, water input will be from below.

i am thinking setting up the filter media with (start from bottom) japanese mat, wool filter, ceramic rings(filter bag), red lava rocks(filter bag), carbon (filterbag), wool filter.

Please kindly any advice or comments for my setup would be appreciated.

If the input is in the bottom this is where you will need your mechanical filter.
How will you service it?
Is this going to be something that will be setup ran for a week or so and completely tore down and then resetup?
