Anyone here make extra money by cleaning tanks? Went to a restaraunt the other day and they asked if we would be interested in upkeeping their tanks. They had a 150 gal that was overstocked (so I am thinking water change once a week.....) that they need someone to maintain. How much can you charge for this and what all would it entail?! Is it worth it?! Just curious!!!!!

100 million dollars!!!!!1!!!!1

I would charge something like $25 since it will take about an hour of your time.

I charge $100 a month for the tank that I maintain.....and thats really fairly cheap.
I include the food too.

Since I'm getting pretty good with this we are considering it. It is pretty close to where I live so it is the same water....... They have 3 severums, a red devil, 3 plecos, three bala sharks (which are already fairly large......), an african, and a catfish in the tank. Does anyone here do this for a living?! Really kinda excited about this because i really enjoy the hobby....... So, $25/week is good?!

I charge $100 and I see the tank a couple times a month....you may bump yours a little if you're doing it weekly.

I would suggest you protect yourself by getting in writing that you are not responsible in the event something happens to thier fish. Even if it is not your fault they could still try to blame you. Other than that go for it.

I agree.

That is what I meant when I asked what all it entails....... Wouldn't what to mess with salt water. Sure that you may need some type of insurance for that!!!! Thanks for the input. Appreciate it!

I used tp charge $25 a week and when it was time to change the filter media or add something I'd let them know and tack on 10% of the materials

I had asked a dude here that owned a shop and did that service about it a while back. He said he charged anywhere from 50 to almost 1000 per cleaning depending on size and/or number of tanks and fresh or salt. Since he had a shop, it was easy to add in the chemicals and media when needed, if the people didnt get or have them already.
No real contracts, but like said before you might want some kind of "not my fault" one. ;)
