Using a 50mm manual focus and apeture and extension tubes. Hopefully some of you appreciate how hard it is to focus manually on a fish smaller than my thumb with a working depth of field of about 1/4"...

curious, what aperture were you using? ive been messing with reverse lens, and just ordered a cheapy extension tube yesterday. i dont like leaving my aperture wide open because the DOF is so narrow, so on my 50mm i leave it stoppped down to f/22. but you gotta have crap loads of light :)
 
I think it was f16 or f18. I like to keep away from the extremes (f1.8 or f22) because lenses tend to function best in the mid-range. There are always exceptions though.

It's a 10 gallon tank that I stuck a large fluorescent light on and then used my SB-600 on manual with 1/1 flash power with the built in diffuser, so yes. Lots of light.
