At feeding time today, I noticed that there was something that appeared life a small strip of skin going down the middle of my favorite female betta's mouthparts, fused to both the upper and lower lips. However, it seemed that it was actually that she was stretching her mouthparts outwards (the way a South American Leaffish does when it eats). It looked extremely alarming, because the skin there is so transparent that I thought her lips were hanging/ dangling from this dangerous thin strip of skin. However, throughout my observing her, she still had her breeding bars displayed.

Five minutes later, she returned her mouth to it's usual position.

When I saw this I was swearing and I almost cried, because I have already lost one betta to popeye.

I have one tailbiter male.

I also had a mouth fungus problem before.

Seems like my bettas get the most problems.
Waterchanges are erratic, usually with gaps between 2 days and one week.

Most of the time I do 5 days between waterchanges, but I do every two days during the holidays and once a week when life gets hectic.
