I was wondering if it is normal for a channel cat(tank raised)to be unusualably active?I mean he NEVER Hides even when he was housed with my Os and redtail.....he's currently in a 72bowfront that has a drilled overflow(previously was a salt tank)it has a 20gal high diy sump I built the pump is a lifeguard quiet1one 4000 pond pump flow is pretty good....tank consists of a ID shark approx. 8-9 inches channels slightly larger.....x2 columbian sharks..aka jordans catfish..aka white tip shark/cat around 3 1/2 inches and a asian bumblebee cat that's approx 3 inches...2 black mystery snails 1 white and 1 blue....substrate is Crayola playsand....2 20lb bags of purple 2 20lb bags of pink[the wifes tank....sorta lol some fish are mine due to size not being able to be in my monster tanks....1 med/large driftwood.....bunch of staggered rocks from the lake for caves.....bunches of anacharis(Brazilian water weed) bunches of hornwort and 3 small amazon swords I'm trying to grow....diy co2 on and off....not constant.....2 coralife 65watt 2000k(I believe) and a fusion air pump....bio media is atleast 50+ scub pads diy k1(4 straws melted together) diy bio balls?(2 caps fused together with holes all over) 4 inch gravel in refuge.....ok my question is this......is it normal for channels to swim in a large circle on the front glass constantly?he sleeps when lights are out..lol I bought him from walmart about a year ago at like 2 inches he's atleast 10-11 inches now...temp is 75-80 weather temps fluctuate.....I'm starting to get concerned. Because it looks like his back is slightly bending....he never roams the tank only from top to bottom and about 2 foot side to side.....I beleave its the current.....wonder if a reef power head would change that if I put on one side of the glass...if I missed anything please ask.....I do not wanna hear about size as I have a 125 in the garage waiting for the diy stand and canopy trim to be put together and set up for my 75 gal stock(RTC and 2 Os that will quickly become a snack) which I also know that will not work permanently...as I plan a plywood build in the near future.....also...the columbians were bought from petsmart from freshwater....so I have no problem with this atm....they will soon be acclimated to full saltwater when I set up my 125....I have videos on YouTube my channel name is tattedncursed87 or just youtube binky in redtails mouth(lmfao) (gotta love kids mischievous behavior)after laughing you ass off click on my channel and see my latest videos for a visual view of my 72...ok well this was ALOT to type so I'm going to close here lol ty and please no negative comments I'm likely to get banned seeing those

They are sensitive to nitrates. How many water changes do you do per week? You'd need at least two 50% changes with very light feeding with that stocklist, but they are growing fish with high metabolisms...so that wouldn't work. Clearly you already know you need a bigger tank STAT, but if you're just looking for band-aids instead of solutions, there are many threads here about controlling nitrates in overstocked tanks.

Have you tried adding an airstone? It's possible that the oxygen demands of the fish outweigh the aeration.

The most likely scenario is that your channel cat has tolerated tropical temps for as long as his biology will let him, and it's time for him to find a real pond or cold tank.

There are 2 air stones in the tank and yes I know it is over stocked but this was never planned to house him in this tank for life obviously....I do 50% of the display tanks water weekly and he is 10 maybe 11 inches(I havenr measured him in a few months he has been all his life and I'm not looking for band aids....just a concern me and my wife have thought...he's the most happiest and social fish we have..EVEN more than my O's

Happy fish don't normally swim in circles against glass trying to get away.
