my new six inch juruense is acting very aggresive he even attacks my large red tailed payara and barracuda if they swim anywere near him or his driftwood overhang is this normal and becuase of it would it be an extremely bad idea to add a five to six inch pictus or other catfish?

Yes it would be a extremely bad idea indeed.
They strictly speaking do best kept alone.

You definitely do not want to add anything unless you plan on adding a divider.

I have personally tried this. My tig will chase my ID shark off when it tries go stuff it's self in my tigs hiding spot. He doesn't bite him but chases him off. Since he didn't bite I thought I would add a baby rtc. It was ok till i turned my lights out the next time they were on my baby rtc tail was sticking out of my tigs mouth. I have baby paroons right now and have a divider up. My tig never ate any free swimming fish like my baby arrow but bottom dwellers are an expensive feeder.

My juruense was like that for a while with my peacock bass. It was a territorial thing I put them in a bigger tank and it stopped.
