For the past few days my male festae has been extremely dark in coloration. He also seems to be swimming extremely sluggish and purpousless back and forth, banging into one side of the tank softly then back to the other side. Seems less interested in food also but is still eating what ever his female doesnt snap up. Heres a pic of his color vs usual coloration. Any ideas guys??

In both picks the belly looks a little sunken. Not drastic, but really the only thing I see. Possibly a parasite in its intestinal track. Any white stringy poop?

not that ive noticed. Ive rarely see poop out of him and ive owned him almost a year!

Water parameters are perfect. The tank is way over filtered and frequent water changes..
I turned the lights on this morning and the fish has demonstrated polar opposite coloring and behavior.. He's extremely light with some darker barring, swimming aggressively. Glass banging as i walk by the tank..

Working in psychiatry for my profession, i've officially diagnosed my male festae with Bipolar disorder..

His belly does look pretty sunken in. Even if he back to normal I'd still treat for parasites.

festae are known to grow very slow.

as for meds, i have no suggestions. ive only had one chance to attempt to treat internal parasites and the fish didnt make it.

he got sunken belly And he's dark = Hex/internal parasite.
