My trimac started to develop a cloudy cover over his eyes. After researching this site I did a water change, raised the temp, added salt and pimafix. No improvement so I did a water change added salt and Maroxy. No improvement so I did a water change and added salt only.

Now one of the eyes is very large and both are still cloudy.

Can someone identify this disease and what I should do?

Thanks!

how long has it had this problem? you seem to be doing the right thing. it may take time. i had a similar problem once with one of my fish. i did frequent water changes added salt and treated with antibiotics. it did the trick.

Which antibiotic did you use, Joel?

The eye looks like it has fluid buildup. Can you please answer the questions in one of the sticky threads here? It has a set of diagnostics. Look for the short version in the last post. We need plenty of details to pin down the exact issue.

I'll be the copy-and-paste elf:

1. What is the size of your tank?

2. What are your water parameters? State the brand of test kit used.

3. Is your aquarium set up freshwater or brackish water?

4. How long the aquarium has been set up?

5. What fish do you have? How many are in your tank? How big are they? How long have you had them?

6. Were the fish placed under quarantine period (minus the first batch from the point wherein the tank is ready to accommodate the inhabitants)?

7. What temperature is the tank water currently?

8. Are there live plants in the aquarium?

9. What filter are you using? State brand, maintenance routine and power capacity.

10. Any other equipment used (aside from heater and filter which are two very important components of the tank)?

11. Does your aquarium receive natural sunlight at any given part of the day? What is your lighting schedule (assuming you do not rely on sunlight for our viewing pleasure)?

12. When did you perform your last water change and how much water was changed? How often do you change your water? Do you vacuum the substrate?

13. What foods do you provide your fish? What is the feeding schedule?

14. What unusual signs have you observed in your fish?

15. Have you treated your fish ahead of diagnosis? If so, what treatments did you use? State your reasons for planning ahead of proper diagnosis.

Thanks for the info Joel!

Don'd know why justonemoretank made me answer his quiz, then never commented.

I am on the 5th day of Maracyn at 84 degrees.
Things are improving, but he still appears blind in the bad eye and it is still considerably swollen. I will do a large water change saturday and go with salt only.

I think I figured out what happened. I accidentally dropped the hood one morning causing his rock house to cave in on him which must have injured his eye.

I was only helping so that you didn't have to search to find what Lupin wanted you to answer. Those are the questions that he was referring to when he said "the questions in one of the sticky threads." I thought it would make things easier for you if I just pasted them on, instead of your having to find them.

Sorry.

I moved the Trimac to a 55 gal treatment tank.
I researched and did the recommended treatments.
After several weeks the Trimac's eye has gone down and cleared up.
He has good weight, color and lot's of energy and so I moved him back to his 180 gal.

The problem is I never see him eat!

He used to eat like crazy and I have tried everything he likes (super worms, earth worms, NLS, Pellets, Bloodworms, etc... When I approach the tank he acts responsive but when I put the food in he checks it our, but doesn't eat. While in the treatment tank I even treated for internal parasites with the jungle food, and tried epsom salt to clean him out. He may be eating a little when I don't see, but I constantly clean out the leftover food.

He is about 4 yrs old and His weight seems good.

Could it be he just doesn't need to eat like he used to or is this an indication that he still has a disease?

Any educated guess would be appreciated.
Thanks!
