One of my Electric Blue Haps jumped out of the tank a few days ago, and he has an eye injury. I'm not sure if he got it when he jumped out of the tank, or if he got it later, but it looks like the top layer of his eye is scratched/torn. Will it heal up on it's own, or should I move him and treat him with antibiotics?

The injured eye is cloudy. Do you think it's infected? I think there was a bacterial bloom in the tank I was keeping them in, it has been kind of cloudy, but I have tested the water, and the parameters are fine. The haps are currently in a 40 gallon breeder, but I'm going to be moving them into a 75 soon.

Same thing happened to my Burundi.. got scratched against a decor, left eye injured and turned 'cloudy'.
Left him without any meds.. Just good old frequent WC.

His eyes got back to how he should look without the cloudiness layer.
But I am sure he is blind now..

Why are you sure he is blind? Do you think my hap will go blind? I am a little worried about doing another water change, I don't want it to make the bacterial bloom worse. I'm going to be moving the haps into the 75 gallon next week.

Sorry. The blind bit was referring to my frontosa..

I don't go the medication route unless really neccessary. If you are sure its eye got injured (scratched or pierced) then yes probably infected.

Personally for any kind of injuries as such, I would just make sure i keep the water clean. Frequent WC.
Its vision on that side might have been already affected.
