My Electric Blue freyeri has bulging eyes...just noticed this evening and i don't think he had it this morning. Whats causing that? he looks like a frog. i got 2 new fish this afternoon. not sure if that has to do with it.

i also have a pleco that lost its eyes a week ago...its been in this african tank from day one. im thinkin it was caused by one of the mbunas but now i wonder if there's some kind of bug in the water thats causing eye problems. could the plecos' eyes have bulged also before he lost them? or the cichlids just took em out?

main concern now though is the electric blue...his eyes are bulging

here's some pics of him....

took him out of the tank and changed about 40-50%.

dont have a test kit but will have it checked in the AM...dont have meds either. hopefully it will heal by itself.

anything else i should have done for now? will get meds in the AM too.

I know this extreme............here's an fyi post about fish missing eyes

It's no secret turtle babies carry samonela, it's also no secret fish carry TB

http://www.petfish.net/kb/entry/170/

Heres an artical on Fish TB - some of the symptoms include Bluging cloudy eyes
Also from personnal experience with piranha missing or eyeballs that fallout.

The 2 incidents of yours occuring at the same time are highly suspect.

Fish TB is no joke and transferable to humans, if it were my tank those fish would already be destroyesd the risk is way too high

there is also a Fish disease called Pop-eye it's highly contagious to fish I believe the cure is tertacycline and vitaminA

Both disease are caused I believe by high ammonia levels in the water which are extremely common in fish stores
