My senegal bichir just got his eyes eaten out by my flowerhorn today. Anyone else experienced something like that before ?

My eyes eaten out by piranhas when swimming in Amazon without goggles. Now, must use Star Trek VISOR (Visual Instrument and Sensory Organ Replacement) to see. Also, my Daphnia asked me please give them X-men visor so can become Cyclops.

...wow...

My Ansorgii bichir got its head split open when he was about 8" Lost part of its lower jaw and his left eye. It happen by accident when it was trying to swallow a frozen shrimp and my Big MBU puffer also eats shrimp went to grab it when the bichir already had it halve way in its mouth. Well he got his head literally split open like V. Well this happen over a year ago and he's all healed up missing one eye though but doesn't seem to effect him at all. Catches feeders just as accurate as any of my other bichirs. Was feeding even only after few weeks of injury. He's now about 15" and looks almost normal but have to look close to see he's missing an eye.

Poor baby.... Note to self for sure guys, thanks for posting, OP!! Best of luck to your senegal...

Do you know what happened? Were they fighting over food or anything? Or was it just like that when you got home?

You'd be surprised how resilient animals are with situations like this. But this also goes to show how powerful animals like flowerhorns/midas/red devils are. Their jaws are like piston driven hydraulic vices!
