My poor little Bongo :( This morning when I went to feed her, I thought she was a little 'off' because she didn't beg for food or immediately start chowing like there's no tomorrow, like she normally does (she's the biggest pig). I was on my way out the door though, so I shrugged it off to her still being 'sleepy'. Well, after school this afternoon, I desperately needed to get my water changes done, so downstairs I went. The whole time, Bongo was hanging out at the bottom of her tank, in the corner...not her usual friendly and active self. When I finally got to her tank, I unplugged the heater and did the change. When I plugged the heater back in, I checked (out of habit) for the pilot light to come back on. It didn't, so I turned it up a tad...still nothing. So I took a closer look...and noticed what looked like a crack on the bottom of the heater. I put my hand in, and the little cut on my finger stung like hell. So what happened was...the heater ****ing cracked, filled up with water, and has been spewing electricity into the tank all day. The sting in my finger was me being zapped. Poor Bongo, I feel so horrible! I can't imagine her having to sit in that all day, my poor girl. I'll see how she's doing now (its been a few hours) when I go to feed her, and hope she's back to normal.

That sucks and I'm sorry to hear that because I know you take care of your fish. Water leaked into my Ebo Jager and lukily I noticed it and got a new heater before anything happened. What brand heater did you have and how many watts?

I don't recall how many watts it was, and I've already thrown it out..but it was a Visitherm heater (not the stealth though, I LOVE those). I don't know how old it was, because it came with a tank I recently bought from a friend. I highly doubt it cracked because of 'abuse' from Bongo, like you would assume with monsters, because she's still a juvenile and I've never seen her go near her filter before. The good news though, is that she's back to normal now that its gone :) I went down to feed her, and the friendly piggy is back.

good that you caught on that something was off.
my solo midas used to box the hell outta a glass heater so i got a stealth.

any new pics of bongos?

sorry to hear that, heaters can be a real pain.
turn the heater off if you havent already ? from your message it looks like you have left the heater on !

with my big fish i heat th water in the sumps cos of the heater smashing that goes on.

Thanks guys...no, the heater was thrown out as soon as I noticed, its not still plugged in (sheesh, c'mon now! :P). It wasn't the midas, Bongo is the female Flowerhorn juvie I have. I'll try to get some pics of her tonight maybe :)
