F0 black belt pics (load warning)

Since Ruck Fules posted on comparisons of f0 black belts I decided to post some of mine. Mine is from Honduras and I got it from Ken Davis. If you could help me sex this fish I'd appreciate it. Any and all comments welcome.

This fish tend to be bland, but I can see hint of red from the top of the head to the base of the gill plate on both sides. The tip of the dorsal has a good bit of red and the tail is completely red. The belt is very faint. This fish is 6".

Couldn't help on the sex? Will be interesting to see this one as a larger specimen. At 6" most here show a fair amount of color but we don't have the privilege of getting wild caught specimens. You can definitely see the belt coming through.

The picture below is an adult that Ken Davis caught at the same locale as the one I have pictured. They are very grey on the flanks with more red near the head and on the tail. Not much of a belt.

I'd be satisfied if mine looked as good as this one some day.

Black belts have a pretty big and wide distribution, spanning several Central American countries, even some I think in Southermost Mexico. All are pretty differant and would not surprise me if in future studies, they come out with a few species from the Black Belt Complex, as what happend with all the Red Devils/Midas fish.

This was my 13" male from polomax24. It looked very similar to the one you posted when it was smaller.

Wow. Black belts sure look to get big! How long did it take to get to 13"? Mine seems to be growing slowly.

1 1/2 to 2 years maybe?

Wait for growth spurts. I'm sure it'd soon happen to your BB.
